Responding to the invitation of Roberto Casarotto, artistic director of Balletto di Roma for the three-years 2015-2017, Alessandro Sciarroni has created Home Alone, a dance performance with video interaction for young people. The production is part of the ‘Teatro Ragazzi’ programme, a series of dance and visual arts events with which Balletto di Roma aims to involve the very young in activities relative to contemporary dance and multimedia technology. Following the success of JOSEPH_Kids, performance created in 2013 and presented in Italy and abroad at events of the calibre of Festival d’Automne, Paris, and Biennale de la Danse, Lyon, Sciarroni returns to the theme of multimedia for the very young with a new version of the choreography originally created for Balletto di Roma. The aim of Home Alone is to offer young people the chance to view technology as a vehicle for creativity as opposed to a means of alienation, to make them laugh and reflect, to encourage them to move and act in a performance space in the most unusual and unexpected ways. The performance recalls the profound intelligence and intuition of the young spectators (and possible performers), involving them, and their adult companions, in a surprising visual game. The performance ends with a playing moment of interactivity in which children explore the simple technological device at the heart of the performance.
