Classical Dance Training Course

> Trainings > Courses > Classical Dance Training Course

The Ballet School of Rome offers a classical dance training course lasting eight academic years. The courses, from the first to the eighth, are nominally divided into two study phases: the pre-academic, which corresponds to the period between the first and fifth courses and the upper three years from the sixth to the eighth course.
During the attendance of the first course, the study of the basic principles of classical technique is started (symmetrical placement of the body, exercises at the bar and in the center). The second course increases the elements of study useful for the rhythmic-dynamic performance of the exercises. From the third year of the course, the daily classic lesson also includes setting the study of the tips. From the fourth to the fifth course the separation of the classes allows the deepening of the jumping technique for boys and the technique on the tips for the girls, as well as a progressive approach to the knowledge and execution of the classical repertoire and the styles of modern and contemporary dance.
The upper three-year period, from the sixth to the eighth course, includes daily lessons in classical technique (spikes, jumps, classical and contemporary repertoire) for male and female classes. Next to the continuous study of the classic and the contemporary, the three-year period allows to consolidate the knowledge and the acquisition of the classic and modern repertoire and promotes laboratory experiences of movement and choreography thanks to the constant interaction with the best contemporary authors of the national and international panorama and with the same Ballet Company of Rome.
